Called CFM260SxxxB, the LLC topology PSU is 116 x 51 x 39 (‘2x4inch’) and includes power-factor correction. Efficiency is as high as 93.5%.

Input can range across 100 – 240Vac and 47 – 63Hz, and four single output versions area available: 12, 24, 26 or 48Vdc. A preset allows output trimming.

A separate 12V output is provided to drive a cooling fan.

“If the system detects the fan’s malfunction or short circuit, then the protection will be activated, but it won’t influence the main output of the power supply,” according to the company.

With forced air cooling, output is 260W to 50°C ambient, derating linearly to 140W at the maximum temperature of 80°C.

With base cooling, output is 170W with 40°C natural convection, with de-rating needed above this – the test chassis is a 480 x 250 x 1mm aluminium sheet.

There is also an open-frame version without base cooling (CFM260Sxxx no suffix) that can deliver 120Wmax with 40°C natural convection, and a slightly larger baseplate-cooled version with a case (CFM260SxxxC) that increases max output to 190W with 40°C natural convection – again, de-rating is needed above this. xxx is the nominal output voltage: ‘120’ for 12V, for example.

“Generally, the thermal management is the critical determinant of the lifespan of the power supply. The CFM260S series provides adjustable cooling assistance, such as baseplate, baseplate with cover, or either one connected with the fan, to help users choose the suited cooling strategies to fulfil their practical application needs,” said Cincon.
