5V data line protection for 0.37pF

Update: April 20, 2021
5V data line protection for 0.37pF

Supplied in a 1 x 1.1 x 0.45mm DFN1110-3A package with wettable flanks for automated optical inspection, it typically offers only 0.37pF of additional load (0.45pF maximum).

“Due to its short leads and small package size, the diode’s line inductance is very low, allowing fast transients such as an ESD strike to be clamped with minimal over or under-shoot,” according to New Yorker Electronics, which is stocking the part. “Available in an AEC-Q101 qualified version, the protection diode supplies a maximum leakage current of <0.1μA at the working voltage of 5.5V.”

In use, the two high speed lines go to pin 1 and pin 2, while pin 3 is connected to ground. Non-clamping working voltage is ±5.5V with respect to ground.

Protection to IEC 61000-4-2 at ± 20 kV (air and contact discharge) is the intention – it has a typical breakdown of 8.5V at 1mA and a maximum clamping voltage of 18V at 3.4A.

Moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 is in accordance with J-STD-020, and it has a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.

Use with USB2.0, USB3.0 or HDMI is envisaged.
