Automotive flexy-to-PCB connector supports MIPI D-PHY

Update: August 6, 2023

Automotive flexy-to-PCB connector supports MIPI D-PHYHirose is aiming MIPI D automotive applications with a 40 position PCB connector for flat flexible PCBs.

Called FH75, it supports MIPI D-PHY specifications at up to 1.5Gbit/s. Pads are on a 0.5mm pitch and the connectors are 2mm high.

Inside is a “two-point contact design with two independent springs that provide a wiping action to prevent contact failure from dust, dirt and other contaminants,” according to the company.

Operation is up to 125°C, and the connector has been designed to resist humidity, hydrogen, sulphur gasses, other corrosion, shock and vibration – a flip lock with the flexible printed circuit tab and housing side catches offers 51.4N retention force.

The lock is also intended to provide a clear tactile click to confirm locking, and tapers are provided to ease insertion.

Applications are foreseen in navigation units, lidar, millimetre-wave radar, drive recorders, audio displays and camera systems.
