Automotive grade tantal polymer capacitor delivers very low ESR

Update: May 8, 2021

The KEMET Organic Capacitor (KO-CAP), available now from TTI Europe, is a solid electrolytic capacitor with a conductive polymer cathode, delivering very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequencies. KO-CAP combines the low ESR of the multilayer ceramic, the high capacitance of aluminium electrolytic and the volumetric efficiency of tantalum in a single surface mount package. Unlike liquid electrolyte-based capacitors, it offers a long operational life and high ripple current xcapabilities.

The device provides full compliance with AEC-Q200 qualification test plan (T597 FD 125C, T598 125C, T599 150C); qualification plan based on AEC–Q200 with 85C/85% RH load specification limited to 500 hours (T591); extended endurance test qualification for T598/T599 (VR <16V), up to 2,000 hours 125C. It offers dedicated H termination and surge current testing options (T598) for the defence and aerospace segment and meets or exceeds EIA standard 535BAAC. The device uses halogen-free epoxy and is RoHS compliant.

Typical applications include decoupling and filtering, infotainment automotive applications, ADAS applications, chassis and safety applications, and powertrain applications.
