BiAs single-line ESD protection diode features space-saving package

Update: August 21, 2021

Vishay Intertechnology has launched a new BiAs single-line ESD protection diode in the compact new DFN1006-2A package with side-wettable terminals. Saving space over solutions in SOT packages, the Vishay Semiconductors VCUT0714BHD1 provides low capacitance and leakage current to protect high-speed data lines against transient voltage signals.

With its working voltage range of -7V to +14V or -14V to +7V and low load capacitance down to 8pF typical, the diode is a standard ESD diode also suitable for interface protection in commercial applications. For automotive applications, the device is also offered in an AEC-Q101 qualified version. Due to the short leads and small package size, the device’s line inductance is extremely low, enabling fast transients such as an ESD strike to be clamped with minimal over or undershoots.

The protection diode provides a low maximum leakage current of <0.1μA at the working voltage of 7V or 14V; a breakdown voltage of 7.3V or 14.5V typical at 1mA; and a maximum clamping voltage of 15V at 3.6A or 30V at 2A. The device offers transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 at ±25kV (contact) and ±30kV (air) discharge. The device provides a moisture sensitivity level of 1 in accordance with J-STD-020 and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating.

RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the protection diode supports AOI for automotive systems. Soldering can be verified by standard vision inspection; no X-ray is needed.
