Binder extends 718 series to address M8 industrial automation

In addition to 3 and 4 pins, they are now also available in 5- and 6-pin versions. The company has announced they come with either PUR or PVC cables, up to 2m or 5m standard length, with customised lengths on request.

Since the snap-in locking mechanism does not require any rotating elements, the industrial circular connector specialist says they are particularly easy to handle, with high efficiency in use.

Specification

In terms of their specification, the connectors meet the IP65 protection degree requirements when mated. Contacts are gold-plated brass for male and bronze for female contacts, and these allow in excess of 50 mating cycles.

With rated voltages between 30 V and 60 V, the products are suitable for rated currents of 1.5A to 3A, depending on the wire gauge and number of pins: 3- and 4-pin versions are specified for 2A (0.14 mm2 wire gauge) and for 4A (0.25 mm2, 0.34 mm2, and AWG 22), respectively; 5- and 6-pin versions for 3A and 1.5A, respectively.

They withstand rated impulse voltages of 1500 V (3- and 4-pin) and 800 V (5- and 6-pin), states binder. And all connectors in the series operate reliably at temperatures from -40 °C to +70 °C in static condition.

Automation

The company, based in Nottingham in the UK, highlights the relevance of sensors and actuators for automation, whether in the context of smart factories, drones or Industry 4.0 generally.

“With the M8 circular connectors and the quick locking mechanism, we are strengthening our position as a solution provider in automation technology,” said Guido Werner, Product Manager at binder. “We will be happy to offer further variants or even customer-specific solutions with the snap-in latch on request.”
