Cable assemblies meet IP67, IP68, and IP69K protection

Update: July 21, 2021

GradConn has introduced its first range of Nautilus cable assemblies that meet IP69K for high pressure and high-temperature washdown protection. Designed to withstand extremely harsh environments, these corrosion-resistant cable assemblies with stainless steel (303) SMA connectors also are rated to IP67 and IP68, offering protection against dust, sand, and dirt as well as immersion in water.

The SMA interface makes it one of the smallest solutions in the market specified to IP69K, according to GradConn. In addition, with a stainless steel body, the new Nautilus connectors offer corrosion resistance in a compact package for new market applications, such as sewage & waste management, mining, marine, food preparation, and agri-tech & hydroponics.

Stainless steel versions, compared to standard waterproof SMA connectors with gold-plated brass, can be used in harsh environments, such as hydrogen sulfide found in underground sewer environments that would cause corrosion problems for instrumentation using standard brass SMA connectors, said the company. The family also offers options for o-ring materials for demanding applications.

A selection of stainless steel SMA cable assemblies is available at Digi-Key. These include the following:

  • CAB411RF-0200-A-1-E: IP69K/IP68/MMCX right-angle plug to stainless steel SMA with EPDM o-ring, rear mount
  • CAB411RF-0200-A-1-S: IP69K/IP68/MMCX right-angle plug to stainless steel SMA with silicone o-ring rear mount
  • CAB412RF-0200-A-1-E: IP69K/IP68/I-PEX MHF to stainless steel SMA with EPDM o-ring, rear mount
  • CAB412RF-0200-A-1-S: IP69K/IP68/I-PEX MHF to stainless steel SMA with silicone o-ring, rear mount

Designers also can configure custom stainless steel cable assemblies at the GradConn website. The RF cable assembly builder offers several connector and cable options including for connection types, environmental and electrical ratings, and o-ring materials.
