Collaboration to replace analogue control with digital in GaN PSUs

Wise-integration of France and Powernet of Korea have teamed up to bring digital control to gallium nitride-based power supplies.

They will “combine their technologies and products to deliver small and energy-efficient components for power-supply applications that are currently limited to analogue control”, according to Wise, which argues: “It is very difficult for power-supply manufacturers to go above switching frequencies of 300kHz with analogue devices.”

Powernet is a switch-mode PSU manufacturer, and Wise has digital control firmware for 32bit controllers and 650V enhancement-mode GaN-on-silicon transistors and half-bridges.

The memorandum of understanding addresses the needs of products ranging from USB PD fast-chargers to monitors, TV sets and electric vehicles.
