Combo steering diode/thyristor arrays protect high-speed data lines

Update: June 23, 2021

ProTek Devices has introduced two new ultra-low capacitance (< 3 pF), low leakage current (< 10 nA) thyristor array and steering diode combination devices for circuit protection in consumer entertainment and networking devices like set top boxes and modems. These combo steering diode/thyristor arrays provide surge protection in high-speed data interfaces.

The TRV24-4LC and TRV24-2LC combo devices are also suited for gateway devices, routers, and other ADSL/VDSL/G.Fast interfaces. The TRV24-4LC is designed for circuit protection in up to four data lines while the TRV24-2LC targets two data-line applications.

These 24-V combo steering diode/thyristor arrays are compatible with circuit protection IEC standards 61000-4-2 (ESD): air 15 kV, contact 8 kV and with 61000-4-5 (surge) : 35 A, 8/20 microseconds. They are also compatible with the ITU K20/K21 standard and Telcordia GR-1089-CORE (surge): 50 A, 2/10 microseconds standard. They are also RoHS and REACH compliant and the flammability rating is UL 94V-0.

The TRV24-4LC and TRV24-2LC are housed in a molded JEDEC SOT-23-6 package and feature lead-free matte tin plating. They have an approximate weight of 16 milligrams. The operating and storage temperature of the devices is  -55°C to 150°C.

The parts are available on 8-mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481. The components perform with a solder reflow temperature of 250°C ± 5°C.

ProTek Devices also offers multi-line steering diode/transient voltage suppressor (TVS) arrays that offer a low-capacitance. These devices provide board-level circuit protection against surge and electrostatic discharge (ESD), protecting standard TTL and CMOS bus line applications against ESD, tertiary lightning, and switching transients. They have a peak pulse power rating of 500 W for an 8/20-microsecond waveshape and also feature the UL 94V-0 flammability rating.
