Cool running relay offers efficient PCS design for micropower installations

Omron Electronic Components Europe has released a compact, efficient 800VAC, 200A high power Relay aimed at PCS associated with renewable micropower generation as well as inverters and UPS applications.

These applications necessitate high energy efficiency and low heat generation, and the new Omron G9KA is an excellent relay solution for grid interconnection and safety interruption. Particularly, it benefits from an especially low contact resistance for this class of relay of only 0.2mOhm, diminishing the heat generated in the relay by over 30% compared with current equivalent devices. This lessens the requirement for thermal management components such as heat sinks or fans and increases reliability by decreasing the heating of the surrounding components.

The G9KA is also highly suitable for use in inverters and UPS systems.”

At 50mm x 50mm x 50mm, the relay benefits a 30% smaller footprint and lower height than an equivalent contactor. The relay is UL Recognised, and EN/IEC TUV, UL and CQC Certificated. It is furnished with PCB terminals and is rated for use at ambient temperatures of up to 85C.
