Corrosion-protected sensor connectors in a stainless-steel design

Update: March 9, 2023

binder provides M5, M8, and M12 products for sensor cabling that supply threaded locking rings and other design parts constructed from stainless steel. Unlike conventional connectors, with nickel-plated locking rings and housing parts made of die-cast zinc or brass, they are ideal for usage under conditions that explicitly demand media resistance. Connectors in stainless-steel design withstand corrosive environmental influences, including contact with chemicals or aggressive detergents.

Its M12 panel mount connectors are offered in stainless-steel versions as either male or female parts, which can be screwed onto the front or rear, with different pin counts, and with or without wires. These connectors are provided with A, B and D coding. The company also supplies panel mount connectors with protective caps as a special feature.

Overmoulded cable parts are also provided with stainless-steel threaded locking rings – instead of zinc die-cast. The respective locking ring offers a hexagon contour permitting the M12 thread of the connector to be readily attached and the torque to be applied. In straight and angled designs, the stainless-steel locking rings are offered for male and female parts. Appropriately resistant plastics are used for cables and over mouldings to provide connectors in the food and beverage industry with mandatory protection against detergents.

In the M12 component, the threaded locking ring is constructed of stainless steel, and the housing and pressing screw – and, therefore, all external parts. This M12 overall metal version also provides electromagnetic shielding and is ideal for transmitting high-frequency data.

As well as the individual parts made of stainless steel, the cable clamp and its seal are also constructed of resistant materials here, such as the clamping element made of PTFE and the seal made of Viton. These connectors are extremely resistant to aggressive, corrosive environmental conditions. As a design detail that aids cleaning, they are almost completely equipped with rounded surfaces.
