Credo Releases Next-Generation Dove Series Optical Communication DSPs, Designed for Next-Generation Data Centers

Update: February 19, 2023

September 8, 2020 Shenzhen, China Credo, a global innovation leader in high-performance, low-power serial connectivity solutions, today announced the launch of a new generation of Dove series low-power PAM4 high-speed optical communication digital signal processors (DSPs). The Dove series released this time includes four new products: Dove 100, Dove 150, Dove 200 and Dove 400 optical communication DSPs, which are designed for next-generation 100G / 200G / 400G data center network platforms.

Credo’s unique PAM4 DSP architecture minimizes chip size, and products are fabricated using mainstream processes to provide the best performance, cost and power consumption for next-generation optical modules: Designed with Credo Dove series PAM4 high-speed optical communication DSPs Pluggable optical modules can have industry-leading performance and ultra-low power consumption at a low cost.

Credo will be showcasing its Dove 100, Dove 150, Dove 200 and Dove 400 series DSPs as well as the recent Dove 100, Dove 150, Dove 200 and Dove 400 series DSPs at booth 8A21 during the China Shenzhen International Optoelectronics Expo (CIOE) from September 9 to 11, 2020. Announced Seagull 50 DSP product.

Haoli Qian, VP of Credo Architecture, said: “Operators of cloud platforms urgently need solutions that can expand bandwidth while maintaining low power consumption and low cost. Credo is honored to contribute to solving this problem, making Optical modules can meet the bandwidth expansion needs of next-generation data centers.”

Alan Weckel, founder and technology analyst at 650 Group, said: “100/200/400G now accounts for more than 50% of the data center network connectivity market and will continue to grow in the future to become the mainstream data center speed. Cloud Platform operators are deploying higher-density 100G network topologies and have begun to invest in deploying 200G and 400G networks to accommodate the ever-increasing demand for network bandwidth. As network speeds continue to increase, the power density and Scalability has become one of the essential criteria in the design of optical modules and switches.”

Credo’s digital signal processing (DSP) technology and equalization technology can well compensate for optical losses while keeping the chip’s low power consumption. All Credo Dove products feature key features of Credo’s digital signal processing technology, including:

· High-performance DSP

· Continuous CTLE and DFE/FFE receive equalization

· Multi-order pre-emphasis at the origin

· Industry-leading ultra-low power consumption

· Complete testing and diagnostic functions

· Interoperability with IEEE industry standards

Optimized, peer-leading compact firmware

In addition, each channel (lane) of the Dove 200 and Dove 400 products is equipped with an independent phase-locked loop (PLL) that supports a breakout configuration.

Dove 100 (product code: CFD30101) for next-generation high-performance 100Gbps DR/FR/LR QSFP28 optical transceivers. The four-channel 25.78125Gbps NRZ signal received on the device side can be aggregated into a single-channel 106.25Gbps PAM4 and transmitted to the optical side.

Dove 150 (Product Code: CFD30501), for low-power, high-performance 100Gbps DR/FR/LR QSFP-56 optical transceivers. The two-channel 53.125Gbps PAM-4 signal received on the device side can be aggregated into a single-channel 106.25Gbps PAM4 signal and transmitted to the optical side.

The Dove 200 (Product Code: CFD50501), a seamless interconnect architecture without Gearbox or FEC conversion, helps data centers scale with switches with 50G PAM4 connectivity. Supports IEEE 802.3 200GBASE-SR4 / DR4 / FR4 / LR4 and 400GBASE-SR8 specifications. It plays a Relay function and transmits the four-channel 53.125Gbps PAM4 signal received by the device side to the optical side as a four-channel 53.125Gbps PAM4 signal.

Dove 400 (product code: CFD60501), for low-power, high-performance 400Gbps DR4/FR4/LR4 OSFP and QSFP-DD optical modules. The eight-channel 53.125Gbps PAM-4 signal received on the device side can be transmitted to the optical side as a four-channel 106.25Gbps PAM4 signal.
