Da Lian Quan Ding Group launches MagSafe wireless charging solution based on Richtek products

Update: July 2, 2023

In recent years, wireless chargers have been widely used in mobile phone products. After the release of iPhone 8, a large number of models introduced the Qi wireless charging solution, but the charging efficiency was reduced due to the positioning problem of the wireless charger and the mobile phone and it was easy to make the mobile phone hot. Therefore, in 2020, the “MagSafe” wireless charging technology was launched. Its function mainly uses magnet positioning to keep the charging efficiency in an optimal state. The MagSafe wireless charging solution based on Richtek RT3182CGQW and RT1716WSC chips, which is based on Richtek’s RT3182CGQW and RT1716WSC chips, can significantly improve wireless charging capabilities and make mobile phone charging more efficient.

On October 21, 2021, Grand United Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary, Quanding, has launched the MagSafe wireless charging solution based on Richtek’s RT3182CGQW and RT1716WSC chips.

Li Technology is an analog IC design company. Since its establishment, it has immediately focused on integrating technical capabilities, insisting on quality and positive customer service. Its products are widely used in computers, consumer terminal products, network communication devices, and large-size panel Displays. And other fields. The RT3182CGQW in this solution is a highly integrated and scalable solution developed by Richtek for wireless power transmitter applications. Its design is mainly aimed at the mainstream wireless power standard WPC, and can be configured as different types of transmitters according to WPC specifications. product.

The RT1716WSC is a USB-C interface controller that conforms to the latest USB-C interface and PD standards. It contains a complete C interface transceiver and Rp and Rd resistors, which can complete the connection and direction detection of the USB-C interface. The integrated USB BMC power transmission protocol physical layer can tolerate up to 100W power transmission and role switching, and the PD part of it can fully support alternative interfaces that comply with the USB-C interface specification.

This solution highly integrates RT3182CGQW & RT1716WSC, using Wireless+TCPC+TCPM combined with BPP/APP charging mode. When the MagSafe solution is connected to the Type-C Adaptor with PD function, the product will change the input voltage to 9V, and then the iPhone can be charged in fast charging mode. In the actual test of the charging status of the iPhone12 model, this solution can be charged to 90% within 2 hours, and can be fully charged within 3 hours.
