DAC for multiple optical networking and automation applications

Update: October 26, 2021

Mouser is now stocking the LTC2688 SoftSpan DAC from Analog Devices. The device offers engineers advanced capability, efficiency and programmability for various automation, optical networking, and telecom applications.

The device is a 16-channel, 16-bit DAC with integrated precision reference to enhance the accuracy of the outputs. The DAC offers independently programmable channels, with five output ranges from 0V up to ±15V. Providing monotonic stability, the device includes built-in rail-to-rail output buffers that sources or sinks up to ±20mA.

It also provides an external reference for further range options and an analog multiplexer to simplify measurement of pin voltages, load currents, and junction temperature. The SPI and MICROWIRE-compatible, three-wire serial interface operates on logic levels as low as 1.71V and clock rates up to 50MHz.

The device is supported by the DC2873A-B evaluation board, also available from Mouser. The board is a fully-featured evaluation board that, when paired with the required DC2026C demo board, allows designers to use Analog Devices’ ACE software to configure and control the onboard LTC2688 DAC.
