Expanded line up of step-up DC-DC converters includes two driver FETs

Update: May 29, 2021

Torex Semiconductor has launched a synchronous rectification type boost DC-DC converter, the XC9143/XC9144 series, which includes two driver FETs needed for switching operation.

The input voltage range of the series is wide from 1.3V to 16V so that it is possible to boost from a broad range of input sources such as two dry cell cells, two LI-ion cells or a 12V line.

Built-in low on-resistance driver transistor allows it to realise space-saving and supply with output current up to 400mA (VOUT=12V, VIN=5.0V). The XC9144, since PFM operation is performed automatically in low output current region, can support the output power with high efficiency from light load to heavy load.

Since compensation components needed for stable operation are built-in, it is not necessary to select external components or perform constant design for phase compensation. Furthermore, since each protection function, limit value, etc., are adjusted internally, it is possible to decrease the number of external parts needed for operation. Because the onboard package is compact as USP-6C, it adds to decreasing the occupied area together with a small number of parts.
