Fast touch display modules provide fast time-to-market

Update: August 12, 2023

Inelco Hunter now offers the Powertip STM32 range of touch display modules, including a powerful STMicroelectronics MCU chip with an Arm Cortex-M7 480MHz core. The modules target applications where rapid response times and smooth graphics are required.

The STMicroelectronics MCU offers a very high level of performance, producing rapid response times and extremely smooth graphics. For example, instrumentation products can plot graphs quickly without jitter and support full MJPEG video playback.

Time-to-market is important, and the easy-to-use TouchGFX plug and play software will allow developers to define the display‘s graphic touch interface extremely fast, utilising graphic icons from the supplied library stock. Also, custom graphic blocks can be swiftly generated, or graphics may be uploaded from external sources directly to the system.

Uniquely, the company offer its own Board Support Package enabling customers to create utilising STM32CubeIDE or KEIL MDK, effectively turning the display into a standalone embedded module in its own right.

Screen sizes vary from 3.5″ to 5″ with a high resolution and wide viewing angles – typically 480×272 pixels with an 80° full viewing angle and a brightness of 800+ lumens.

The displays offer capacitive touch input technology. Low power consumption is also a fundamental feature – the built-in Chrom-ART accelerator saves processing power and frees up the MCU for other applications where required. The STM32 modules all offer embedded 16MB RAM and 32MB QSPI Flash memory and a Micro-SD slot for expandable storage. Support is supplied for I2C, UART, SPI, USB, RTC, Ethernet and CAN bus.

Developers will no longer require to work on the MCU hardware platform, lowering the development time by many months. Also, the purchasing team will only need to manage one component instead of multiple items such as Flash, RAM and MCU.
