GaN FET AC/DC power adapter enabling 50% size reduction

Update: July 27, 2021

Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower has launched its new TTG300 GaN FET-based power adapter series, which delivers a power density greater than 9.1W/cubic inch. This new line addresses the requirement for compact 300W solutions for ITE applications by utilising GaN FET technology to offer double the power density and 0.5 kilograms in weight savings when compared to a traditional mosfet based power supply.

The new TTG300 series comes in a slim profile of 7.2″ (L) by 3.35″ (W) by 1.38″ (H) and is available with single outputs of 12V, 15V, 19V, 24V, 48V or 56V. The power adapter can be furnished with either a class I IEC 320/C14 AC inlet or a class II IEC 320/C18 AC inlet. The series has a standard output connector of a Molex Mini-Fit receptacle P/N 39-01-2060 with Molex terminal P/N 45750-3111.

Operating at a 100 to 264 VAC universal input, the series supports operating altitudes up to 5,000m and operating temperatures between -20C to +40C ambient while derating linearly from 100% load at +40C to 50% load at +60C. The power supply series has an average efficiency of 91-93% and is provided with standard over current, over voltage, and short circuit protection. It has an MTBF of 300,000 hours-minimum at full load, 25C ambient, calculated per Telcordia SR-332, making it a highly reliable power supply.

The power supply series is approved by UL/cUL and TUV to the latest ITE standards IEC/EN/UL 62368-1:2014. The power adapter complies with EMC and immunity standards, including EN 55032, CISPR 32/FCC, VCCI Class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11. It also meets Energy Star 2.0, ErP stage 2, DoE Level VI, CoC Tier 2, NRCan and GEMS level VI standards.
