Hand-held microwave spectrum analyser series consists of four devices

Update: July 8, 2021

Saelig Company now offers the SAF Tehnika Spectrum Compact SG Series RF Signal Generators – hand-held and simple to use RF signal generators for the 6GHz-40GHz licensed microwave frequency bands. There are four models in the series, incorporating specific frequency ranges of 6GHz-12GHz (J0SSAG11), 10GHz-18GHz (J0SSAG12), 17GHz-24GHz (J0SSAG13) and 24GHz-40GHz (J0SSAG14). They make ideal companions to SAF Tehnika’s hand-held Spectrum Compact spectrum analysers. The output from these devices is adjustable in 1MHz frequency steps, and output power from -3dBm up to +13dBm can be modified in 1dBm increments. The compact (5.04″ x 3.2″ x 0.94″) housing is rugged and lightweight (10.6oz), excellent for field use.

These CW sources have an intuitive, interactive GUI with instant on/off functionality, and the resistive touchscreen provides for operation even with gloved hands. The series can combine with commonly available antenna or waveguide systems through a standard SMA connector. The built-in LiPo battery provides continuous use for three hours or more.

The very portable models in the series are invaluable tools for indoor benchtop use or outdoors for antenna testing, alignment, and line-of-sight verification. The output signal may be fed into a directional antenna for detection at a far point microwave dish, for instance, when paired with a signal analyser. For precision fieldwork, external low-pass filters may also be attached to the SMA output connector.
