High-reliability power connectors ensure maximum power in harsh environments

Update: May 28, 2021

Mouser now stocks the new Kona high-reliability power connectors from Harwin. Able to deliver 60A of continuous current per contact, the highly durable connectors can support battery charging applications without dividing the current across multiple contacts.

The connectors feature a six-finger beryllium copper contact design with gold plating in an 8.5mm pitch. The connectors are individually shrouded on male and female versions, stopping accidental touching and physical damage. Created for use in harsh environments, the power connectors rely on a rugged cable-to-board design to sustain electrical continuity through heavy vibration and shock. Providing stainless steel thumbscrews on the female connector housing, the power connectors can be quickly repaired with no tools needed.

The connectors also utilise an innovative mate-before-lock mechanism that assures contacts are fully mated before engaging fixings. The robust connectors provide durability of 250 mating cycles, a wide operating temperature range of -65C to 150C, and a 5kV maximum voltage rating.

The power connectors are available in a single row of two, three, or four contacts and are excellent for various uses in extreme conditions, including power control systems, robotic drives, electric vehicle battery monitoring and management, satellites, and UAVs.
