High-reliability power connectors support battery charging applications

Update: July 22, 2021

Powell Electronics now stocks the new Kona high-reliability power connectors from Harwin. Highly durable and able to deliver 60A of continuous current per contact, these connectors support battery charging applications with no need to divide the current across multiple contacts.

These connectors benefit from a six-finger beryllium copper contact design with full gold plating in an 8.5mm pitch. The components are individually shrouded on both male and female versions, stopping accidental touching and physical damage. Intended for use in harsh environments, the devices rely on a rugged cable-to-board design to sustain electrical continuity throughout heavy vibration and shock. Providing stainless steel thumbscrews on the female connector housing, the power connectors can be readily repaired without any tools needed.

The connectors also employ an innovative mate-before-lock mechanism that assures contacts are fully mated before engaging fixings. The robust connectors provide durability of 250 mating cycles, an extensive operating temperature range of -65C to 150C, and a 5kV maximum voltage rating.

Available in a single row of two, three, or four contacts, the devices are perfect for a range of uses in extreme conditions, including power control systems, robotic drives, EV battery monitoring and management, satellites, and UAVs.
