Hirose Electric has expanded its high-speed family of automotive flexible printed circuit (FPC)/ flat flexible connector (FFC) connectors with the introduction of the FH75 series, supporting data transmission rates up to 1.5 Gbits/s. The new FPC/FFC connectors are housed in a small footprint with a 0.5-mm pitch and 2-mm height.

The FH75 series connectors provide a rated voltage of 50 VDC/VAC and a rated current of 0.5 A. The connectors operate over the temperature range of -40℃ to 125°C, meeting high temperature requirements in automotive applications.

The FPC/FFC connectors also offer high contact reliability with a two-point contact design with two independent springs that provide a wiping action to prevent contact failure from dust, dirt and other contaminants. Other features include resistance to shock and vibration, hydrogen and sulfur gasses, humidity, and corrosion.

The 40-position connectors use a flip lock with a FPC tab and housing-side catches that offer a high retention force of 51.4 N. The flip-lock design offers easy FPC insertion and emits a clear tactile click to confirm complete locking, said Hirose.

The FH75 Series, supporting MIPI D-PHY specifications, targets applications such as car navigation, laser radar, millimeter-wave radar, drive recorder, audio display, and in-vehicle camera systems. The connectors are RoHS compliant and halogen-free.
