Update: March 30, 2021

IBM called it a proof-of-concept providing “an early proof point” for the technology. It connected 81,000 people in Puerto Madryn.

IBM led the systems integration of equipment from multiple software and hardware vendors including Alitostar, Red Hat, GigaTera and Kontron.

IBM said the initiative showed “the telco industry’s trust” in its capability as a systems integrator.

IBM has  5G partnerships with AT&Tand Samsung.

In February IabM set up an O-RAN centre of excellence in Spain to employ 500 people to promote O-RAN in Europe.
