IC lead times growing

IC lead times growing

“All major product categories up considerably,” says Susquehanna analyst Chris Rolland, particularly instancing PMICs and analogue, “these were some of the largest increases since we started tracking the data.”

According to Rolland average lead times went up by a week in April to 17 weeks from 16 weeks in March.

“Elevated lead times often compel ‘bad behavior’ at customers, including inventory accumulation, safety stock building and double ordering,” adds Rolland, “these trends may have spurred a Semiconductor industry in the early stages of over-shipment above true customer demand.”

Lead tines for PMICs were 23.7 weeks in April – up four weeks on March.

Industrial MCU lead times increased by three weeks in April.

Head phone IC lead times are up to 52 weeks.

Auto chips are on 22 weeks lead time at NXP and 28 at ST, says Susquehanna.
