SW-514 (pictured) is a DIN rail mountable industrial four port Gbit Ethernet switch.

It has galvanically isolated (1.5kVrms) Ethernet ports and automatic detection of 10, 100 or 1,000Mbit/s data transmission speed.

Operation is over -40 to +80°C, and it has a dual input redundant power supply which can be fed from unregulated 5 to 30Vdc – so USB, factory floor 24V or vehicle battery for automotive use. Reverse polarity protection is included.

Consumption is nominally 3.6Wmax: 550mA from 5V or 90mA from 30V.

The “power terminal is removable with numbered pins for easy wiring,” according to Liverpool-based Brainboxes. “Power consumption is optimised based on the status of the link device.”

No software required, and as well as factory and vehicle use, marine applications are envisaged.

PE-505 is an embedded five-port Ethernet switch – probably an un-cased PCB that can be built into other equipment. Farnell is getting Electronics Weekly some more information, so watch this space.

Farnell will have Brainboxes’ new units, and its own Muticomp Pro products, on stand G06 at the Exhibition within RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin 23 and 24 May.

“The eighth National Manufacturing Supply Chain Exhibition & Conference features a line-up of leaders, academics and government agencies who will engage in a blend of keynote addresses and debates,” according to Farnell. “The event will include an exhibition showcasing the technological solutions and business services, while business leaders can listen to case studies and technical presentations from manufacturing experts, and meet with technology providers.”
