“As SWIR is used to detect the presence of substances and their constituent components by taking advantage of characteristics of water, ice, gases or glucose that absorb specific wavelengths, target applications include light sources for blood oxygen saturation and blood glucose measurement devices in the medical field and measuring the water and sugar content of fruit and vegetables in the food industry,” according to the company.

10 LEDs are planned in five wavelengths (1,050, 1,200, 1,300, 1,450 or 1,550nm) and two packages, one with a lens to narrower the emitted beam and increase radiation intensity.

On the receiving side there are four photodiodes with a choice of receiving area to trade speed against sensitivity. Two of these are in larger (2 × 1.25mm) 20125 packages.

Samples are available.
