Low noise 500-mA LDO regulator targets automotive applications

Update: November 25, 2021

Diodes Inc. has released its AP7347DQ low dropout (LDO) voltage regulator, which targets noise-sensitive power-related automotive applications. The 500-mA LDO regulator delivers performance in several areas, including a high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), low output noise, low quiescent current, and a wide input voltage range. These features make the automotive-compliant LDO well-suited to a range of automotive applications, such as in-vehicle functions, including point-of-load (POL) in ADAS, automotive wireless communication systems, RF subsystems, and infotainment power sources.

The AP7347DQ offers a 75-dB PSRR, an output noise of 60 µVrms, and a 60 µA quiescent current that mitigates standby power losses, said the company. The LDO is available in 12 fixed output voltage variants with a ±1% voltage-output accuracy, which is maintained across the -40°C to 125°C operational temperature range. The LDO is AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified and supports automotive production part approval processes (PPAPs).

In addition, the 1.7-V to 5.5-V wide input voltage range enables the device to meet a variety of automotive application requirements, said the company.

Other features include an enable pin and a built-in active discharge function that ensures the system starts up in a known state if the device has been disabled. The device also integrates overtemperature and short-circuit protection, incorporating a 180-mA foldback current limit if a short circuit occurs.

The AP7347DQ is available in SOT25 and high-power-density sidewall-plated W-DFN2020-6 (SWP) packages. The LDO is priced at $0.27 each in quantities of 1,000.
