Miniature pushbutton switches target tight spaces

Update: September 15, 2021

CUI Devices’ Switches Group has added the MPB series of miniature pushbutton switches to its product portfolio. The MPB switches are available in packages as small as 9 × 6 mm with profiles as low as 5 mm, making them suited for a variety of space-constrained consumer electronics and industrial control applications.

The miniature pushbutton switches feature SPST, SPDT, or DPDT circuit types, off-on or on-on switch functions, and pitches of 2.54 mm or 5.08 mm. These models also offer a variety of surface-mount and through-hole mounting styles as well as terminations, including straight, vertical or straight with bracket, and right angle.

Additional configuration options include flush, 3.3 mm or 5.4 mm actuator heights. The 5.4-mm versions offer actuator cap colors of red, white, or black. Other key specs include an operating temperature range of -25°C to 80°C and a lifetime of 20,000 cycles.

Available now, prices for the pushbutton switches start at $2.55 each in quantities of 500 through distribution. Lead time ranges from stock to eight weeks. Contact CUI Devices for OEM pricing.

Earlier this year, the Switches Group introduced the MSS series of miniature slide switches in package sizes as small as 10 × 2.5 × 5.9 mm with 2.54-mm pitches. The slide switches feature SPDT circuits and on-on switch functions. Similar to the miniature pushbutton switches, these devices target space-constrained consumer electronics, industrial control, and test equipment applications.

They also offer a variety of options including surface-mount or through-hole mounting, raised or flat actuators, gull-wing or PC pin terminations, and vertical or horizontal orientation. Key specs include rated voltages of 12 or 24 VDC and rated currents of 300 or 500 mA. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
