New baseplate-cooled AC/DC power supply delivers a complete solution

Update: March 16, 2023

XP Power is launching a new series of low-profile, baseplate-cooled 160W AC/DC power solutions. The new units are planned for usage in semi-conductor manufacturing and industrial technology applications comprising test and measurement, factory automation and process control, aimed at solving cooling, air pollution and integration issues.

The new ASB160 series are compact and complete AC/DC power supplies that incorporate an EMC filter, AC fuse and bulk storage capacitor, making them ready for direct-to-PCB installation into an end application where they can function with a baseplate temperature in the range -40C to +90C.

These units can work globally due to the universal input range of 90VAC to 264VAC, and the series provides six single DC output voltages 12, 15, 24, 36, 48 and 54VDC.

Housed in a full brick baseplate-cooled module, the devices measure only 2.4” x 4.6” x 0.78”. This, along with efficiency levels of up to 93%, delivers some of the highest power density levels available in this type of device. As such, the rugged units are ideal for sealed enclosures, including ATEX-approved equipment, as the baseplate cooling removes any requirement for forced air/fan cooling.

As a total solution, the modules provide inbuilt protection mechanisms, including over current, over voltage and over temperature. Effective heat removal through the baseplate provides elevated levels of reliability and simplicity of integration.
