New EMC filter for LED lighting applications

Update: July 1, 2021

Schaffner has extended its range of filters for LED lighting applications with the new FN2560 filter range. Designed specifically for attenuation needs in the lighting industry, the performance of the filter begins at frequencies as low as 9kHz. The new filter is supplied in an attractive space-saving compact package and has single strand solid wire terminations giving simple, flexible and reliable installation.

Typical applications are LED driver, LED equipment and displays, streetlamps and signage, industrial and architectural lighting, fluorescent lamp ballasts or any other application needing high differential mode performance. The range has an operating temperature range of -40C to 100C.

At common mode attenuation performance, a selection of three different performance levels is available, offering three different leakage ratings.

For applications where low reactive currents are required, an alternative version, FN2564, is available. The device has no X-capacitance between grid and neutral line and has, therefore, no HF-current between the lines. This is useful in applications with reactive current restrictions.

The FN2560 is ideal for typical European voltages of 300VAC/300VDC and has current ratings of 1A, 2A, 5A and 8A, while the alternative FN2580 is rated at 350V to suit common international voltages.

All of these new filters are created for a maximum continuous operating voltage of 300VAC, 50/60Hz and for nominal currents up to 10A. They have worldwide approvals in accordance with ENEC, CQC, UL, UKCA and CSA and meet the requirements for RoHS and REACH regulation
