Next-generation SQRAM DDR5 4800 memory for computing at the edge

Update: September 15, 2021

Advantech has released the SQRAM DDR5 4800 series industrial-grade DDR5 memory. This series is offered in diverse form factors and leverages early-access, next-generation DRAM technology to give excellent performance, compatibility, and efficient power management. It uses DDR5 to improve bandwidth by 50% and is able to support twice the bandwidth of DDR4 (up from 4.8GB to 6.4GB per second). Also, the SQRAM DDR5 extended temperature series undergoes strict laboratory testing to guarantee reliability in mission-critical applications. These characteristics make the series an exceptional choice for edge computing and AIoT applications in the medical and Semiconductor automation markets.

The series employs next-generation technology to achieve a two-fold increase in speed and an innovative channel structure that empowers industrial and HPC applications. DDR5 also offers a diminished operating voltage compared to its predecessor — decreasing it from 1.2VDC to 1.1VDC. Analogously, DIMM PMIC is placed on the module to engender enhanced efficiency and stable operation. The series offers 4800MHz of performance utilising the 12th Gen Intel Core processors and has passed strict test programs and chamber server verification procedures that assure compatibility with 12th Gen Intel platforms and selected company embedded platforms.

The series is provided in a wide selection of form factors — including RDIMM, unbuffered DIMM, SODIMM, and Rugged DIMM — with maximum capacities up to 32GB. The series is supported by SQRAM’s intelligent software: SQ Manager. This software, developed for DDR5, is provided in on-site and cloud versions and can monitor system DRAM operation. Indeed, it can convey real-time information that helps managers stabilise operations and decrease the risk of equipment error.

The series incorporates a comprehensive selection of extended temperature solutions. Models that accommodate -40-85C are great choices for applications within critical aerospace, defence, and submarine markets. Conversely, models that support -20-85C are ideal for transportation, outdoor, and fanless applications — including those found in outdoor kiosks and EV chargers.
