PCIM: IGBT gate drivers for MW-scale railway traction

Numbered 1SP063xxxx1R, the drivers match the footprint of single-channel IHM IGBT-modules with 1.2 to 1.4kA outputs and 3.3kV blocking voltage.

PCIM: IGBT gate drivers for MW-scale railway tractionThere are three boards in the set: the main driver (1SP0635D2S1R peripheral driver centre) receives optical trigger signals and controls its IGBT as well as passing signals to the peripheral driver (1SP0635D2S1R left) for its IGBT. The dc-dc converter (ISO6125R-33 right) powers both. Up to three modules can be paralleled.

Compared with the company’s standard drivers, the railway-class drivers have 2mm instead of 1.55mm PCBs and components have been shifted and rotated to avoid bending lines. The boards meet IEC 61373 specifications for shock and vibration and IEC 60068-2-xx environmental requirements.

Particular attention has been paid to the electrical connectors, said the company, moving to a locking automotive part to increase security and provide tool-free disconnect.

Units are also EMC-qualified according to EN 50121-3-2 and IEC 6100-4-x.

Conformal coating is standard and burn-in is an option for added reliability.

For ease of installation, both the dc-dc converter to main driver cable, and the main to peripheral driver cable are identical (part RLC-IMS-050-0). The supply cable to the dc-dc is RLC-PSI-050-0.
