Quarter brick baseplate-cooled DC-DC added to portfolio

Update: November 15, 2023

Flex Power Modules has added a quarter-brick, baseplate-cooled DC-DC to its product line-up featuring an ultra-wide 9-75VDC input range (100V/100ms). The PKM8100A delivers 100W at up to 89% efficiency and offers initial outputs of 12V/8.35A or 54V/1.85A. Input to output isolation rating is 3000VDC, fulfilling IEC/UL 62368-1 requirements. The product is fully featured with remote control, output trim and remote sensing, while protection comprises over-temperature, input under-voltage lockout and output over-voltage and short circuit.

The range is presented in the industry-standard quarter-brick format, 57.9mm x 36.8mm x 12.7mm, with through-pin connections. The device functions to a maximum baseplate temperature of 110C, enabling operation without derating to 85C ambient with 3m/s airflow or to 75C ambient with natural convection when fitted to a cold wall.

Class B of EMC standards EN 55032, CISPR 32 and FCC part 15J are met with an external input filter with component values specified in the technical specification. Reliability of the parts is high at 3.78Mhrs according to Telcordia SR-332 standard, issue 3 method 1, at 40C ambient.

“The PKM8100A expands our range of quarter brick DC-DCs,” comments David Xie, director of R&D and Product Management in Shanghai of Flex Power Modules. “The ultra-wide input range means that the part can ride through dips and surges in tough environments, or one-part can cover a range of nominal inputs, reducing inventory holding”.

The series is available for sampling now.
