Called the FT23xHP series (table below) “they support operation across one channel and benefit from elevated levels of power delivery via their USB ports,” according to the company. “At the same time, data can be transferred at 480Mbit/s without any interruption should the direction of power flow change – the system shifting from a source into a sink, or vice-versa.”
Inside is a Type-C/PD controller for negotiation and power level detection prior to supply being initiated – the host MCU does not need to intervein.
In line with revision 3.0 of the USB PD specification, up to 100W can be transferred.
In-built I/O options include: RS232, RS422, RS485, JTAG, I2C and SPI.
Operation is across -40 to 85°C. All have 3.3V I/O and none are host controllers.
Applications are foreseen in household appliances, barcode scanners, test equipment, industrial automation hardware, computer peripherals, power tools and lighting systems.
The single channel FT23xHP series follows, from last year, dual-channel (FT223xHP) and quad-channel (FT423xHP) versions.
