Space-saving 2.5GHz antenna connector

Update: August 6, 2023
Space-saving 2.5GHz antenna connector

Employing one-step crimp termination, it is called the GT21 Series. Coaxial wires up to 3.1mm across can be accommodated.

“Crimp termination enables the cable assembly to be completed without touching the centre conductor, which provides precise centre conductor positioning and consistent operation,” according to the company.

As defence against shock and vibration, a locking mechanism that can handle 98N is included. It emits a tactile click when properly mated, and for visual inspection there is a lock confirmation window.

There are three termination variations: pin-through hole version, surface-mount and in-line version, and both coax and ‘power’ (single, non-coax) inserts.

Versions handling one, two, three or four coaxial cables are available, and each of these can be had with or without a power cable (except possibly the 3x coax version). The single coaxial version comes in four colour coded keying options.

“Out-performing industry standard FAKRA connectors in high frequency characteristics, the GT21 offers superior performance and space-savings up to 37%,” claimed Hirose v-p of marketing Mark Kojak.

The connectors are rated for exposure to sulphur dioxide, high humidity and thermal shock, and can operate across -40 to +105°C.
