Thin film chip fuse offers AEC-Q200 qualification for automotive applications

Update: August 27, 2021

Vishay Intertechnology has launched a new very fast-acting thin film chip fuse. For automotive applications, the Vishay Beyschlag MFU 0603 AT is AEC-Q200 qualified and provides current ratings from 0.5A to 5A.

The device will be used in EV and HEV vehicles, where it will offer protection for voltage sensing circuits in battery management systems, as well as circuit protection for small loads. For these applications, the fuse’s highly controlled thin-film manufacturing process guarantees exceptional stability of fusing characteristics.

Providing a robust design, the device comprises a homogeneous metal alloy film deposited on a high-grade ceramic substrate, with fuse elements covered by a protective coating created for electrical, mechanical, and climatic protection. The device provides advanced sulfur resistance in accordance with ASTM B 809, and it withstands 85C/85% R.H. for 1000h biased humidity testing and testing for thermal shock.

Supplied in the 0603-case size, the fuse offers a rated voltage of up to 63V, a breakdown capacity of 50A, and an operating temperature range of -55C to +125C. RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the fuse is ideal for processing on automatic SMD assembly systems and automatic soldering using wave, reflow, or vapour phase.
