Ultra-compact GaN FET AC/DC power adapter meets latest standards

Update: September 9, 2021

TRUMPower has introduced its new TTG250 GaN FET based power adapter series, which meets the demand for compact 250W solutions for ITE applications by utilising GaN FET technology to produce more than double the power density and 15% in weight savings when comparing to a traditional mosfet-based power supply. With an average efficiency of 91-93%, the 250W power adapter satisfies the latest global energy efficiency standards for external supplies with its compliance to DoE Level VI, while providing a very low no-load power consumption of 0.21W maximum.

The power adapter comes in an ultra-compact 6.81” (L) x 2.64” (W) x 1.3” (H) enclosure and is equipped with either a class I IEC 320/C14 AC inlet or a class II IEC 320/C18 AC inlet. The units provide a high-power density of 10.7W/in3 and five standard single output voltages of 12, 19, 24, 48, and 56VDC. The standard output connector is a Molex Mini-Fit receptacle P/N 39-01-2060 with Molex terminal P/N 45750-3111. Additional connector and cable options are available on request.

The series operates with a universal input range of 100VAC to 240VAC and supports operating altitudes up to 5,000m. Operating temperature is between -20C to +60C ambient while derating linearly from 100% load at +40C to 50% load at +60C. The power supply series is provided with standard over current, over voltage, and short circuit protections. The units are reliable with an MTBF of 300,000 hours minimum at full load, 25C ambient, calculated per Telcordia SR-332.

The power supply adheres to the latest IEC/EN/UL 62368-1:2014 ITE Standards. The power adapter complies with EMC and immunity standards, including EN55032, CISPR 32/FCC, VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11. It also meets energy star 2.0, ErP stage 2, CoC tier 2, NRCan and GEMS level VI standards.
