Amphenol USB3 type C Field TV

Called USB3CFTV, its tough exterior is based on MIL-DTL-38999 series III, in shell size 11.

Its tri-start thread coupling is designed to resist shocks (IK06 mated pair), vibration and cable traction, and the casing seals against fluids and dust to IP68. Expected life is at least 500 mating cycles.

Mating and unmating are tool-less. To prevent casual unauthorised access, several matching screwdriver-operated external security covers are available from the company’s Caplock and Pluglock ranges.

Operation is over -40 to +85°C, up to 5A and up to 20V (100V withstanding).

Compatibility is USB3.2 Gen 1, and made-up lenghts up to 1m long are sold alongside the connectors.

Shell material and coating options are available to suit environmental regulations and chemical environments: Aluminum plus olive drab cadmium coating has a 500 hour salt spray resistance, but is not RoHS-complaint. 500hr RoHS-compliant options include: aluminium and black zinc nickel plating, aluminium and tin-zinc, and with no coating: marine bronze or passivated stainless steel. Aluminium and nickel plating is also RoHS-compliant, but is only 48hr rated.

Multiple flange options for chassis mounting include a stand-off jam-nut receptacle (hexagonal nut mount) with a through-hole PCB-compatible rear.

Applications are foreseen in the military and aerospace.
