UV-C LEDs boasts space-saving dimensions for multiple applications

Update: March 31, 2021

Mouser now stocks the Oslon UV 3636 LEDs from Osram Opto Semiconductors. The LEDs boast space-saving dimensions that allow designers to include them for direct sanitising interaction in small and robust water, air, surface disinfection and purification applications and treatment and sensing.

The compact size of these devices and direct emission properties allow designers to include them directly with the substance being sanitised. The direct integration into the light sources also ensures that the high-energy, short-wave UV-C light does not reach the surrounding area, which can pose a risk to people.

The LEDs are available in low and mid-power versions, employing a robust ceramic package material, quartz glass cover, and ESD protection. The low-power version delivers a radiant flux of 4.7mW (typ.) at 30mA, while the mid-power provides 42mW (typ.) at 350mA. Both versions offer a peak wavelength of 275nm and a 120-degree emission angle in a compact footprint of 3.6mm x 3.6mm.

Applications for the LEDs comprise medical, home goods, and consumer applications, varying from point-of-use water treatment and automotive interior disinfection to air purification in portal devices or air conditioning systems.
