Wi-Fi 6 front end module is optimised for IEEE 802.11ax systems

Update: August 7, 2021

Qorvo QPF4532 5.0GHz Wi-Fi 6 Front End Module (FEM) is optimised for IEEE 802.11ax systems. The FEM is available now from Mouser. The QPF4532 features a 5150MHz to 5850MHz frequency range, up to 31dB transmit gain, and a low 2dB noise figure. This highly integrated device consolidates a 5Hz power amplifier, regulator, SPDT, and a bypassable LNA into a single package. The compact form factor and integrated matching of the device reduces the layout area in the application.

The performance of the FEM is focused on optimising the PA for a 3.3V supply voltage. This feature conserves power consumption while sustaining high linear output power and leading-edge throughput. The receive path matches the optimal technologies to maximise Rx sensitivity through noise figure performance constant over a broader variety of conditions. Integrated die level filtering for second and third harmonics, and 2.4GHz rejection for DBDC operation, are included. For application feedback, a DC power detector is combined into the package producing a voltage proportional to the output power from the transmit path.

The FEM is provided in a compact 2.5mm x 2.5mm laminate package.

Typical applications areas include access points, wireless routers, residential gateways, customer premise equipment, and IoT.
