15kW 210V variable PSU can source or sink up to 150A

Update: August 6, 2023
15kW 210V variable PSU can source or sink up to 150A

Fitting into a 3U rack slot and called SM210-CP-150, its output is bounded (curve below) by 15kW maximum power, +210V maximum voltage and ±150A maximum current. Within its range it can output:

  •  210V, ±71.5A
  • 150V, ±100A
  • 100V, ±150A

Up to 20 can be paralleled for more current (to 900kW), but series operation gain to more voltage is not permitted.

Input voltage is Three-Phase 342 – 528Vac (48-62Hz). Active correction mans a power factor of up to 0.996 at 100% load, and efficiency (sink or sink) is up to 96% at full load. Operation is over -20 to +50ºC ambient.

Control is through the front panel display and knobs or through an Ethernet cable.

“They make an ideal choice for engineers involved with battery and motor testing,” according to Berkshire distributor Telonic, which is stocking the units. “A standard feature for this supply power recovery: in sink mode these bi-directional power supplies can return full power back into the grid and there is no need for water cooling.”

The complete SM15K line-up is:

  • SM70-CP-450  0 to 70V  0 to ±450A
  • SM210-CP-150  0 to 210V  0 to ±150A
  • SM500-CP-90  0 to 500V  0 to ±90A (pictured)
  • SM1500-CP-30  0 to 1.5kV  0 to ±30A

The front panels are 132 x 483mm (19in, 3U), and behind that the size is 128 x 448 x 591mm excluding feet.
