New low profile multi-band massive IoT front-end module

Update: October 30, 2021

Skyworks introduces the new SKY68031-11, claimed to be the world’s smallest, multi-band RF front-end (RFFE) module for licensed, low-power, wide-area network (LTE-M/NB-IoT) applications, including asset tracking, health and fitness wearables, smart metering and industrial monitoring.

This module combines the entire RF front end required for a cellular IoT radio operating in low-band (5, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 85) and mid-band (1, 2, 3, 4, 25, 39, 66, 70) frequencies. The FEM monolithically integrates a broadband power amplifier, antenna switch, transmit harmonic filters and MIPI RFFE controller, all in a compact 3mm x 3mm package.

The device offers up to 20 frequency bands allowing the same FEM and PCB design to be utilised anytime, anywhere.

This turnkey solution offers PA, harmonic filters, antenna switch, and matching co-designed hand-in-glove with package, requiring minimal effort to use. Smart Biasing provides up to six different bias conditions, which can be pre-defined and programmed through MIPI interface to optimise PA performance and reduce current consumption.
