New security-focused products aim to optimise and scale embedded security
Microchip Technology has announced it has extended its secure authentication device portfolio to include six new products in its CryptoAuthentication and CryptoAutomotive IC families that fulfil Common Criteria JIL High-rated secure key storage and support certified algorithms that comply with the FIPS.
This portfolio of secure authentication devices reduces the barrier to entry and allows developers of products for new segments and applications to execute trusted authentication to stop counterfeiting, enhance quality control and safeguard the user experience. Implementing embedded trust in many designs is essential as counterfeits become prevalent across multiple industries.
The devices are supported by the Trust Platform Design Suite, a dedicated software tool employed to onboard these ICs with the company’s secure key provisioning service. The scalable service allows cryptographic assets to be provisioned for projects of almost any size, varying from tens of devices to large-scale deployments across various industries, including consumer and medical disposables, automotive and industrial accessory ecosystems, wireless charging and data centres.
“Designers of cost-sensitive applications that may have had limited or no secure authentication can now add this critical function using these new additions to our security portfolio,” said Nuri Dagdeviren, corporate vice president of Microchip’s secure computing business unit.

The security products are compatible with any MPU or MCU and can be used as companion devices to its AVR MCUs and Arm core-based MPUs and MCUs. These secure authentication ICs supply customers with a versatile solution that fulfils evolving industry standards and practices.
