The report includes the SIG’s first forecast for LE Audio, Auracast deployments, and the transition from Bluetooth Classic Audio to LE Audio. It also covers new markets, such as electronic shelf labels (ESL, below right) and Ambient IoT.
With 5.4 billion Bluetooth device shipments in 2023, it forecasts there to be 7.6 billion devices shipped in 2027 (9%CAGR).
Also, driven by strong growth in peripheral devices, Bluetooth LE single-mode device shipments are forecasted to double over the next five years. In addition. Considering both single-mode LE and dual-mode Classic + LE devices, the SIG says 97 percent of all Bluetooth devices will include Bluetooth LE by 2027.
It is expected that 462 million Bluetooth earbuds, for example, will ship in 2023, climbing to 712 million by 2027. And 686 million Bluetooth smart home devices will ship in 2023, with a 1.35x growth in annual Bluetooth Audio Streaming device shipments from 2023 to 2027
Finally, 300 million Bluetooth OEM remote controls will ship in 2023.
